Sophia Crawford (born May 19, 1966; age 50) is a stunt performer and actress who appeared as Mia Kirshner's stunt double in the role of Mandy. She was pulled out of the door of Flight 221 seconds before it exploded.

Biography and career Edit

Sophia Crawford was born in Hammersmith, London, to a Canadian father and a Danish mother. She is a triplet, and has an older brother and sister. Crawford's father was an economics editor for The Sunday Times, and her mother was a model, pianist, and teacher. She passed away from cancer when Sophia was only 12 years old.

In 1986, Sophia and one of her sisters decided to join a group on a trip through Europe and Asia. The trip took her through Belgium, Eastern Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Thailand. Although she returned to England for a while, Crawford eventually returned to Thailand where she started working as a model.

After Thailand, Crawford moved to Hong Kong where she started training in martial arts. She trained with members of Jackie Chan Stunt Team and and became a prolific martial artist, appearing in many Hong Kong films. She then moved to Hollywood and began a career in American film and television as a martial artist, body double, and stuntperson.

Crawford is notable for doubling Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as the Pink Power Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Other shows in which she has worked are NCIS, CSI: NY, Thieves, and Bones. She has also worked in films like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Collateral, and Scream 2.
