Ukraine — a country in Europe — was among the nations listed in the CTU Operations Manual. One of its intelligence agencies, Sluzhba Bespeky Ukrayiny, was also listed. This country was the location of the genesis of the bio-weapon Cordilla virus. Additionally, one of Ukraine's cities, Yalta, was a place of great historical significance.

Before Day 3 Edit

Twelve gas-dispersal devices, formerly part of the Soviet Union's biowarfare arsenal, were stolen from an armory in the Ukraine three weeks prior to Day 3.

Day 3 Edit

The scientists who engineered the Cordilla virus, led by Yuri, were of Ukranian descent. Also, information of the theft of twelve gas dispersal devices from the Ukraine was given to CTU Los Angeles by Russian intelligence sources. Because the devices were meant to spread pathogens into the atmosphere, Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler had to assume that they were stolen in connection to the Cordilla virus threat.

Before Day 5 Edit

19 months before Day 5, Inessa Kovalevsky was kidnapped from her home in Kiev for sex-slavery, and was sold to Jacob Rossler.

Sergei Bazhaev was born in Ukraine.
