This is a preliminary analysis of the title card freeze-frames uses in the "Previously on 24"s.

This is the first episode with an opening narration. Gaines and Jack's card could've been combined. Jamey might've made more sense than Nina. And a card for Teri or Kim might've been nice.

- Alberta arrives with her entourage

Andre Drazen might've been better than Gaines. Nina's was quite random. It should've maybe been Alberta. No Teri or Kim card this week, as they were included under Jack's.

Why did they choose Kim and not Teri for the title card? Or Eli? Random. Could they not have done a card with both girls? Gaines doesn't have one this week.

- Jack arrives at the compound
- Reunites with his family

- Finds out Rick is helping the girls
- they all split up while under fire
Jamey?! She's old news by this point and has nothing to do with this episode. There's no Nina. Kim and Teri are again combined under Jack's card.

Gaines' was pointless here and should've been included in Jack's. Jack's itself was pretty brief. Why did they choose Kim and not Teri? Why not include them both in Jack's, as they've done before? The Alexis segment should've instead been "Counter Terrorist Unit" or "Nina Myers" or something, not under Palmer.

- Kevin offers to fix the situation, but is denied
- Alexis kills Kevin

Why chose Teri and not Kim or Nina? It definitely seems random. Likewise, why Andre and not Alexis? Palmer and Jack's are pretty much the same and didn't need to be separate. Jack's could've been called "Robert Ellis" instead, actually.

- She and Kim escape the safe house as Jovan chases them
- Kim goes off the cliff and the car explodes
- Teri faints
- Tanya finds her
- Kim awakens
Alexis AND Palmer were totally unnecessary and should've been "Elizabeth Nash" instead. Same with Jack. And again, why choose Teri and not Kim?

For once, they're actually nicely organized. Jack could've been "Elizabeth" but I guess they're reluctant to not include a card for the star.

Palmer's card probably should've been "Patty Brooks". The Mila shooting makes no sense out of context like this.

Jack's should've been part of Palmer's, but once again, they need the star to have his own card, I guess.
[edit] Conclusion
I might go through and watch the previouslies for S2 as well, but so far I've concluded that I was right and the names chosen are pretty random, with the exception of Jack and Palmer, who they felt obliged to include in every episode, no matter how critical they were that week. There's certainly no pattern to who's chosen. A card doesn't necessarily mean a character was important to the episode, and lack of a card doesn't mean they weren't.

- The most important characters are featured most. Tony is never featured, but Nina is featured 4 times! David Palmer is always featured, but none of his family. Kim and Teri's storyline can usually be summarized using the villain, but Kim and Teri are still used more often. You said a couple times that minor characters should have been featured. Maybe they are in other seasons? Maybe the emphasis changes from family to villians after Teri dies? I'd be interested in finding out. --StBacchus 23:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
