[edit] Featured Trivia
- During the scene in Day 2 10:00pm-11:00pm in which Jack Bauer and Kim Bauer say goodbye over the phone, Kiefer Sutherland sat in the backseat of the car behind Elisha Cuthbert, reading his half of the conversation. When filming Jack's half of the conversation, Cuthbert sat in the seat behind him in the airplane.
- The sets used when President Palmer flies in Air Force One during season 2 are the ones used for the Harrison Ford movie Air Force One.
- Mandy was not referred to by her name at all in Day 4 5:00am-6:00am. CTU refers to her as 'the hostile', presumably because they do not know her true identity.
- During Day 3 6:00pm-7:00pm, when Chase Edmunds calls CTU from his cell phone, the display reads CTU # 352235 and the date is Thursday, September 4, 2003. The time is 2:15pm.
- During Day 3, Stephen Saunders demanded that President Palmer reveal classified information, to be sent to him via a website. The website he gave was SylviaImports.com. This site was actually registered by Rodney Charters, the show's director of photography, and it contained the following text message: A big thank-you from the crew of "24". Thanks for watching, we love making it for you, and yes, we did get picked up for Season 4.
- The house used as the Warner residence during Day 2 was once owned by both Bing Crosby and Andy Griffith.
- While filming for Day 4, Carlos Bernard set up a practical joke where he had his cop friends arrest Mia Kirshner for smoking marijuana on the set. His friends took the joke too far, and Kirshner was unable to continue her scenes with Bernard. Kiefer Sutherland commented that the director of the episode was reportedly very upset.
- Before he is going to be executed, Ryan Chappelle says he has no friends or family to call to say goodbye, yet he is wearing a wedding band.
- As Jack and Curtis fly toward the Global Centre at the end of Day 4, Los Angeles is brightly lit below them in all directions. But an EMP went off a few hours ago and all the electricity was blown out. It wouldn't be repaired this quickly.
- Just as the "555" telephone number extensions in TV and movie, the octet range (0-255) limits the number of IP addresses that can exist. The IP address Steven Saunders gave to Tony in the latter part of the season does not exist, since the IP address was 257.211.16.5
- Elisha Cuthbert was attacked by a mountain lion on the set of Season 2. She was rushed to hospital where she received stitches to her hand.
- Only 4 characters have appeared in the first five seasons: Jack Bauer, Tony Almeida, David Palmer, and Aaron Pierce (Kim Bauer and Mike Novick each missed one season in the middle).
- Scenes of a satellite in space in Day 1 12:00am-1:00am were taken from Enemy of the State (1998).
- Jack's opening monologue changed subtly as season 1 moved on. It began, "Right now, terrorists are plotting to assassinate a presidential candidate, and my teenage daughter is missing." It then became, "...and my teenage daughter has been kidnapped," then "...my wife and daughter have been kidnapped," then, "...my wife and daughter are in danger," and finally, "...my wife and daughter have been targeted."
- President Palmer's Cabinet has a Department of Homeland Security, so one has to assume that Palmer's term in office takes place after the presidency of George W. Bush.
- During Jack's rescue of Secretary Heller and Audrey, the Marines that assist in the rescue operation were real Marines.
- All 24 cast members are required to have their hair trimmed every 5 days.
- During Day 1 433 people died, (including the 374 passengers and crew of the 747 from episode 1). 106 people died during Day 2.
- As an April Fool's joke on the crew, producer/director Jon Cassar revealed a fake ending to Day 2. Palmer's press conference ends and he goes down to his limo. He gets in successfully and rides off. After a while, we find out that someone is sitting next to him. That someone is Nina Myers. We realize that Palmer was in on the whole thing. We then shift to a scene in the desert. We close in on a parachute, then pan over to reveal George Mason, who jumped out of the plane before the bomb exploded. Of course, this wasn't used in the final version.
- In Day 1 12:00am-1:00am, the sound of the clock before and after commercial breaks was different to the rest of the series.
- At the end of Day 2 11:00pm-12:00am, Jack takes Kate out of CTU. When Tony tries to stop them, Jack throws him to the floor and Jack breaks Tony's ankle by stepping on it. Tony spends the rest of the series on crutches. The reason for this is that Carlos Bernard broke his ankle playing basketball so the writers had to alter the script to take this into account.
- Sarah Clarke was cast as Nina Myers the morning filming for the pilot was to begin; the costume department didn't have time to fit her, so she wore her own clothes during the season.
