Winrich Kolbe (August 9, 19402012; age 72) was a director of two episodes of Season 1 of 24.

Biography and career Edit

Winrich Kolbe was born in Germany. He moved to the United States to study architecture, but ended up being drafted during the Vietnam War. He served as an artillery spotter in the US Army.

After that, Kolbe began a career in television during the 1970s. He started out as a associate producer on shows such as Quincy M.E. and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. After that, he became a recurring director for shows such as Magnum, P.I., T.J. Hooker, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Knight Rider, Spencer: For Hire, Hunter, Star Trek: The Next Generation, In the Heat of the Night, Lois and Clark, Millennium, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and the 2000 version of The Fugitive (starring Mykelti Williamson).

Many of the shows Kolbe directed were written by 24 scribes Chip Johannessen, Brannon Braga, Robert Cochran, Howard Gordon, David Fury and Alex Gansa.

Kolbe died in September 2012.
