Operation Nightfall, a covert operation undertaken by Jack Bauer to kill Victor Drazen, took place in Kosovo within Yugoslavia.

According to German antiterrorist unit Grenzschutzgruppe 9, Jonathan Matijevich, under the alias "Henrich Raeder", may have trained in secret terrorist camps in Yugoslavia. (Findings at CTU)

Day 1[]

During Day 1, after Ira Gaines was killed, Nina Myers learned that an assassin had left Yugoslavia that morning and the threat was far from over. ("Day 1: 12:00pm-1:00pm")

Background information and notes[]

  • For most of the 20th Century, Yugoslavia was made up of the republics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia as well as the autonomous provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina in Serbia. In 1992, after the Yugoslav wars, Serbia and Montenegro formed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which remained until 2003, when it was reconstituted into the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. In 2006 it split into the separate countries of Serbia and Montenegro, and 2008 Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia.
